Over the weekend, I shared a big secret to becoming wealthy at a leadership training event that was held at the Eden Rock Resort in beautiful Miami, Florida.

My buddy Paul Hutchings and I are shooting a video out on the balcony with the water, boats and skyline in the background. Our camera guy is John Chapman. We can’t help but laugh at how silly it sounds to call a six-figure earner a “camera guy.”
This is the conversation we had on camera about the big secret to becoming wealthy.

“I am standing here with just the most beautiful people. I wish you could see everybody around here. These are amazing people, top earners. What I want to talk about on this video with you, Mike, is about the {big secret to becoming wealthy}.
I wanted to just share with you, real quick, a little bit of the experience that we have had today.
We talk all the time about learning how to think like wealthy people think. Then, when you do that, you will be able to do what wealthy people do. Part of doing that is actually getting in the spirit of influence of wealthy people.
Mike and I, before the video, were talking about how long we have been on this personal development journey – me for 8 years, Mike since 2007. So, for years, Mike and I have been working on learning and growing. We come to this event, and literally, we feel like we are toddlers.
The information that was shared today… and we signed non-disclosure agreements, so I can’t go into it, but… workbook after workbook after workbook of mind blowing information. Stuff that I kind of knew existed, but…
Mike, what was your reaction to what we learned today?”
I actually took a college class in communications and I got an ‘F,’ by the way… (insert laughter from the group here.)
I spent all night, until 6 a.m. filling out this workbook. Now, I am way more clear, I know more about communication than I have ever learned in any college class or any school I have ever been to.
In fact, all the personal development…
You know, we go through “Think and Grow Rich” every morning, we go through all these books… but now, we are learning a whole new atmosphere of communication. It’s a different ball game right now. It is something we have to work on in order to become better at it.”

“Learning automatic influence, and persuasion in our communication that works with our families, with our prospects, with our e-mails, with our videos, with our marketing, with ourselves. You can actually use this training in talking to yourself to influence yourself to get done what you need to get done!

Here is the big secret to becoming wealthy…
I remember a time when I was actually going to the grocery store; happy to spend some time with my family and have a good dinner.
I swiped my credit card and it got declined. I got out the other one out, swiped it, and it too, was declined.
At that moment, I realized that I had maxed out my credit cards. We were $100,000 in debt. I really didn’t know what to do. I was desperate. I started driving home depressed. Literally, what am I going to do? What am I going to tell my wife that is expecting me to come home with groceries? Am I going to tell her, sorry, we can’t afford food?
I came home and checked my email and my mentor said, get to Denver, Colorado and you are going to have a breakthrough in your business. I believed him. So, we did whatever it took to get there.
We decided to sell my car. We sold my car for $5000; it was probably worth $12,000. We took the $5000 to make it to that event.
I made it to the event, and my mentor told me one thing. I do this breakthrough that I learned at that event, on a day to day basis now, and I actually relate my success to that.
I earned a $37,000 personal income last month because of this one skill that I learned at that event in 2008.
You can change your life with an event.
You can hang around with Paul Hutchings, you can hang around with John Chapman, you can hang around with David Wood.
Even if you go to an event and it is not anything to do with your company, is doesn’t matter. You are building relationships with people. You are building your personal development library. You can actually build that asset inside of you every single time that you get in front of people and you work with people live.
Sometimes you go into this internet marketing stuff and it’s not personal. Get to these events; they can change your life. You can have that one breakthrough when you just decide to get there.”

“I want to point out… five years ago Mike couldn’t buy his groceries. Three years ago, I was living in a single wide trailer house crying on my knees praying to God for a way to help my family.
I don’t care where you’re at in your life. I don’t care how bad it is. I don’t care if you can’t buy your groceries, I don’t care if you are living in a single wide trailer house, I don’t care if you’re homeless.
The guys we learned from today… both of them were homeless. One of them was a drug addict shooting heroin in his arm just a few years ago. Now, both of them are the number eight income earners in the entire world, earning five hundred thousand dollars a month.
There is hope for you if you are coachable; if you are willing to take the actions that we have been taking that got us from where we were to where we are now. They will work for you if you follow our invitations, and never give up on your dreams.
