Facebook is hiding your posts!
I have a quick update about Facebook that you may or may not know. This is an important update if you want your friends or followers to see what you post.
If you post on Facebook all day long and nobody sees it, then you aren’t going to get any exposure to what you are posting.
This information isn't just for those using Facebook for business. This applies to everybody on Facebook in general.
Facebook is Hiding Your Posts
I saw a video from a buddy of mine, Zeb Olsen, on Facebook, and he started talking about this…
I realized that Facebook is the only social network that chooses the updates that are shown to you from your friends. Facebook will choose and control the updates you see based on their edge rank system!
No other social network does this. Facebook is hiding your posts by controlling what their members see!
It’s kind of crazy, if you think about it…
Facebook is Hiding Your Posts
Just so you understand the way that edge rank works…
Let’s say that a friend contacts you. You haven’t interacted on Facebook in over a year. Now, suddenly, this friend’s updates start showing up in your news feed. Facebook is hiding your posts from the friends you aren't interacting with on a regular basis. The more you interact and chat, the better your edge rank will be.
There are fixes so that your posts get shown to more people.
- Interact with people more. Go through your friends list, chat with them, send them a message. Do these things more frequently and you will show up on your friends’ news feed.
- Get more interaction on your posts. Ask for comments, likes, etc. The more people that like and comment on your stuff, the more chances Facebook will “allow” people to see it.
- Select All Updates. Go through your friends, hover over their name and choose “settings. “ You will see that it is defaulted to “most updates.” Instead, select “all updates” on any and all friends that you want to see.
Now that you understand how Facebook is hiding your posts, using these techniques will help your posts appear more frequently and improve your ability to interact more effectively with your friends. These tips are very good for business, but it can be applied to general relationship building.
