Leave a Legacy
“Don Green shared with us last Friday about he got into the habit of writing thank you notes at the end of every day. He talked about a lady that came into his bank one time and deposited $60. He wrote her a thank you note. She was blown away that the president of the bank would have written her a thank you note for a deposit of a nominal sum of $60. It made such an impact on her and made her feel so good; it eventually ended up paying the bank back because she went and told everyone in town.
Yeah, we want to make the money. Yes, we want financial freedom. Yes, we love entrepreneurship. Yes, we want to encourage people to lift up and be better and step forward continuously into their better futures. We respect all that, we admire it. We love entrepreneurs who are extraordinary and successful because of the value they are delivering into the marketplace and we endeavor to be in that group.
However, let us not forget that we can leave a legacy on the journey. We don’t have to be at the $3,000, $5,000, $10,000, $50,000 or $100,000 monthly mark before we begin to leave a legacy.
We can do things in our days that are causing us to leave a legacy now.
Leave a Legacy
I was going through my journal on the flight over here. Huge thanks to everyone on this call. When I go through my journal I realize on an even deeper level how grateful I am for each of the people on this call.
Hopefully I will have a chance to sit down with you some day and show you my journal. I can flip through the pages and show you quotes from people on this call.
One of the quotes that I reviewed yesterday was from Mahara Tucker. She was talking about how there is nothing more valuable that we have than our time. She went on to say that if our time is the most valuable thing that we have, then the most precious gift that you can give somebody is your time and your attention.
Now, think about that. You don’t need a million dollars to give somebody your time or your attention. You don’t need a million dollars to give somebody a listening ear. You don’t need a million dollars to hear somebody’s story and respond with interest and fascination and smiles. You don’t need a million dollars to let somebody know that they are important by giving them your time and your attention. We can leave a legacy today. We don’t have to wait until we are millionaires.
We can start to leave a legacy today by giving people our time and our attention, writing thank you notes like Don Green, showing respect and admiration for people, smiling. All of this stuff can help us contribute to the happiness of the world while we are stepping into that first freedom goal. Then, once we get that first freedom goal we are stepping past that and helping others hit their first freedom goal where they win their time back.
It is just amazing, my friends. We are causing smiles all over the world through what we are doing in this entrepreneurial journey. I am just so grateful and applaud each of you for being a part of this special mission that we all have to be happy ourselves and to help others be happy.
Life is a gift, my friends. The more we realize that, the happier we are going to be.
