I want to talk a little bit about pride for money. I am referring to income proof and claims out there on the internet from people doing home based businesses.
I have been thinking about this for quite a while.
I see people post their checks, display their company back offices or pull big bills out of the ATM and show off how much money they have.
I never really wanted to do that. Something inside me thought it was being prideful, boastful, and showing off…
Pride for money… I didn’t want to be that kind of a person.
Then, I heard “Documentation always beats conversation.”
Pride for Money
When you look online, you see gurus that are selling the dream. They are constantly showing off their cars, houses, money and sales. It seems almost as if they are using pride for money generation.
You also see leaders that we know are making a lot of money and getting a lot of sales, but they aren’t showing it off.
We see successful people on both sides of this issue, so which is right?
Is showing off your income prideful, boasting or showing off?
Pride for Money – Income Disclaimer
First, let’s be clear that when you show proof of income, you need to include a disclaimer. It doesn’t matter which business you represent, results are not typical according to the FTC.
”The amount of hours worked required to achieve the stated income varies by participant. Basically, it takes hard work to make substantial income in this business, and some people make no money at all.”
Pride and Money – The Correct Way to Disclose Your Income
I believe that if you share your story on how you achieved that money, before you show proof of income, then you are not showing off. You are inspiring people to take action, and they will believe in you.
I do not approve if you are just posting your income online telling people to “Look at me, I made $100K” This is the prime example of pride for money. “Look at me” is something you have to be careful with. You won’t gain the respect from those that follow you. People may join, but will not continue to follow you for a lifetime. They will be disappointed, because you made it all about you. This is a selfish way to bring people in to your opportunity.
My advice to you is to be careful about being prideful when showing your proof of income. Don't have a pride for money mindset. Don’t brag.
Be humble about your earnings, and you will go a long way. Share how you overcame struggles to find success and inspire others to do the same.
