Replicated domain blacklist is Tip #3 of 5 in the Email Deliverability Series…
Replicated Domain Blacklist
Most people don’t realize they are doing anything wrong and they are wondering why their messages are hitting the spam email box. It may just be a replicated domain blacklist situation.
In our industry – network marketing, affiliate marketing, online marketing – you were probably given a replicated website, right? Your company gave you a website that you could market and promote online. Replicated means that every representative in the system is using the same root domain. It appears as a domain name with a forward slash (/) and the user name or number. Maybe you are using a marketing system or a capture page creator that uses the same root domain.
Here is what happens to create a replicated domain blacklist…
Let’s say there was a big huge spammer, and they start spamming everybody with their website. So, the Internet Service Providers (ISP’s) decided to block the spammers IP address. The spammers got smart and started generating more IP addresses. When the ISP detects a big bulk spammer switching IP’s with the same domain name in the emails, the ISP will blacklist the domain name. Now, it doesn’t matter how many IP’s are used, the spammer is neutralized.
Here is how all of this can work against you…
Let’s say you join a company and there are 100,000 people promoting the company. What if some person in the company doesn’t market in the right way and they go and start bulk spamming everybody in the world and then the ISP’s block that domain? Well, every representative in that company is blacklisted because because of the replicated domain blacklist.
It doesn’t matter how good your auto responder is. It doesn’t matter if you have 99.9% email inbox deliverability. You can have the best email service provider on the planet – if you use that replicated domain name in your email and it is blacklisted, you will go straight to spam.
How do you prevent this?
You purchase your own domain name and then you forward to your replicated site or page.
Replicated Domain Blacklist – Email Deliverability Tip 3 of 5
I use a software program called LeadPages that allows me to create unlimited capture pages. They give me a domain name that has leadpages.net as the root domain.
The options are to install the program on your WordPress site with your own server, or you can just forward a domain or subdomain to the url.
This way, you will never succumb to the spam box because of someone else’s mistake resulting in a replicated domain blacklist.
Never use replicated domains in your emails to your list.
Always use a domain name that you own.
Never use url shorteners like bit.ly
Never use replicated domains or system domains. You want to use your own domain.
