Is ripping apart someones downline really the best way to build a business?
This is a touchy subject because almost the entire time I have been online people talk about attraction marketing or going after other people who are already network marketers…
Now I do believe this can be considered an awesome market and very easy way to build your business. In fact it's great to have someone join your team who is already experienced in Network Marketing but I really want you to listen to what Todd has to say about it. He makes a really good point on why it may not be the best market for your business. So watch this entire video now…
Make sure you apply the golden rule he talks about in this video…
Have you ever had someone in another company call someone in your downline and recruit them? Let me know below. I would love to see how many people this happends to…

Hey Mike,
Great article and video, my thoughts on this topic is if my team can be torn away from my team then they weren’t with me in the first place. People can’t be taken or convinced to jump from company to company if they were really committed to being successful in a company. There are millionaires in all of the MLM companies out there so its up to the person to decide if they will be successful or not..
Wow! This is THE subject that 90% of our troubled industry needs to have drilled into their brain. I can’t tell you how many teammates come to me complaining about being harassed by competitors who are outright BASHING their company, all in some ridiculous attempt to try and get them into their deal. What happened to “attraction marketing”, what happened to “rapport building”, and what happened to “leadership branding”? You couldn’t have said it better Todd, this is EXACTLY the kind of leadership our industry needs!
Great Post with a REALLY good message! The Golden rule applies to anything and believe me, one does feel better knowing that they have earned an honest buck. Strategy and technique is one thing, morals is another. Looking forward to the next post Mike!

Yep, you hear it every day…TARGET THE NETWORK MARKETERS! I think this is fine when you lead with value and are selling a tool or marketing system (the best is Marketing Survival Skills by the way<—shameless plug) that will actually help them out with whatever primary business they happen to be promoting. If they like you better than their sponsor, they will join you anyway, but I wouldn't condone ripping apart down lines in primary companies!
Great blog! Indeed you are right, if you want to expand your networking business you should have to do it in a professional way. No one would be successful in networking business if one of your strategies is to rip people from the other networking company. If you want success and if you are professional enough, do your networking business in a professional way.
I tell you…I amaze myself sometimes 🙂 I have been thinking the EXACT SAME THING…my mission is to help people who AREN’T in network marketing become free! The people who have just been “let go” or the college student who can’t find a job in this down economy! If someone isn’t happy with their company, they will go on their search and if you have created a solid online presence for the company you’re in then they will find you 🙂
Wow, Mike. Great post. With all the people in the world, there is no need to steal or try to steal other people’s reps. I get really tired, too, of people trying to flip me by pretending they have a real question for me about my business.
Mike,
I love this post! Todd is so right – there are so many prospects out there, why would anyone try to recruit people away from a business they are already in? I see that as an amazingly arrogant thing to do. But unfortunately many in this profession do just that. It really shows a LACK of confidence rather than what is stated – that “my opportunity is so much better than the one you have already chosen.”
I agree completely with Todd – go out and find new people to bring into your amazing opportunity rather than thinking you are taking a shortcut by recruiting away from others thinking that your new recruit will be all trained for you and ready to make you rich.
I liken it to someone who will cheat on their spouse. “Once a cheater, always a cheater” has been proven to be true most of the time, so just consider that if they are so easy to “recruit away” from their one sponsor, they will be just as likely to leave you as soon as someone shows them a “brighter, shinier” opportunity and then you will be worse off than when you started!
Follow Todd & Mike’s advice and go recruit someone new to the business – you will be much more successful that way!

I second that. I totally agree with Todd, and even before I watched this video i allready had thought about it. I didn’t understand why other marketers were wasting their time chasing other marketers. You need to go out there and get new people to bring into your opportunity., simple as that!. 🙂
Yes, great blog and video Mike! Good points, but I really have to agree with James…I don’t own my team…I get the pleasure to work with, inspire and motivate them to be the best they can be…If they choose to go with another company, I place no blame on anyone. The economy is tough…I’m grateful for every person who’s thought enough of me to ASK me to check out their company, I have said “No” far more than I have said “Yes,” which hasn’t ever taken anything from our friendships.
Thanks for the chance to share & keep the great information coming Mike!!
I really like the ‘Golden Rule’ that Todd is talking about. And he is so right. I usually only go after other’s downline if their company went out of business and even that I do seldom. I want people in my downline that wont jump from company to company just because someone tells them their company is better. These people are not worth keeping anyway.
Thank you for posting this video and letting them know that it is NOT OK to go after someone’s downline.
Oh you mean like how you’re stealing everyone’s downline in EZMM and putting them into your Pure leverage team?
