Should You Do Videos with Throat Cancer?
Today I am answering a video marketing related question from one of my Facebook friends, John Hobart:
“I realize videos are the way to promote, but what can I do?
I had throat cancer and can barely speak.
What can I do video wise to get my message out there?”
Should you do videos with throat cancer? Too many people think that video is the only way to go.
I use video, and many other marketers use video to generate leads and sales; but I also know people that generate leads and sales with written content.
Don’t think that you always have to do videos to be successful online. For example, Ray Higdon will often have a thought and he will turn it into a blog post.
A video is basically just thinking of a topic that will add value to the marketplace. When I have someone transcribe my video, it becomes a full blown blog post and my thoughts become written content.
The magic happens in providing value to the marketplace and in telling your story!
Should you do videos with throat cancer?
Think about this… “I had throat cancer and can barely speak…”
That is a huge story!
In your blog post, say: “Hey, I have this idea of a video I want to do, but because I had throat cancer and I can’t speak, I want to share my thoughts with you in this blog post.”
You can also share your story on social media. It doesn’t matter where it is at – what matters is telling your story.
Should you do videos with throat cancer? If someone that had throat cancer and can barely speak – can have success in this industry, provide written content and take action – what excuse do other people have? You have a powerful story, my friend, and you can use this to help and impact so many people’s lives.
There are some other things that you can do. You can create video with images, words and music – but I believe that you should put your thoughts on paper, on blog posts, on social media – share your story and just roll with it.

Mike, Thank you for the inspiring video
Building a home based business is tough, but daily I'm encouraged by people who overcome extraordinary things and still do this, I'm a little slow but they say winning is a marathon. thanks Mike, Cable guy by day Entrepreneur by night.
In addition to what you said.. from a woman's perspective, John is a distinguished looking man, very good looking. I suppose if he has a burning desire to do video he might find a great hook by not speaking in video, but using other tools to communicate non-verbally, in addition to using a quick 3 minute intro pointing to the written format. This could possibly be very compelling, too, and interesting, mixing media up a bit to create a whole from different pieces.
As someone who is very eccentric and not socially developed yet, I find ways around this by combining pictures, images, snippets of video that tell a whole story. People love it because it's "different" and genuine.
John, don't let not speaking stop you! Be creative and bold, authentic and compelling. Being a little different is a powerful tool.

He could also get videos done with content provided to them to create videos getting his own messages/ideas conveyed.

Great post Mike, very inspiring!
Great post and video Mike.
You can do a few things for videos….If you have a power point presentation ready…you could have someone do your voice overs for you…A friend or family member or hire someone on fiverr.com. another suggestion is that latest video creator I think it’s called video scribe and it does animated videos to help u present your business online. Hope that helps and I know Mike that you have a link to a training you did on recording your power point slides in Camtasia if I’m not mistaken…right?
I admire John for wanting to do videos. I have suffered with chronic upper and lower back pain for 31 years. When I first started on the internet I desperately needed help paying for my prescriptions. On top of chronic pain I have severe COPD with Empysema, The prescriptions for breathing supplies are priced out of this world. Empower Network was my Final Business attempt I was going to make. Today I can finally say I don't have to choose whether to breathe or be out of pain. I am very grateful to Dave and Dave for going forth with Empower Network which has allowed me and many others with stories worst than mine to finally make money to step up our quality of live and be able to live our dreams.
John I would also like to suggest to you to have someone else do the videos for you. Family members, neighbors, even hire someone. Most of all John have fun with every thing you do in life. You have made the choice to live, others are not that courageous.
Congratulations John

Hi Mike and John Hobart, have you researched animated, whiteboard videos?
Check these out. They’re very easy to implement.

Great video as usual Mike; well done for being prepared to discuss such a delicate subject. And a great big thumbs up to John for being prepared to do ‘whatever it takes’ 🙂
Thanks for the encouraging words.
