More and more businesses are turning to Email Marketing. In today's economy, it is more important than ever to make sure that any advertising money spent results in good return. Email Marketing has been proven to be tremendously cost-effective and efficient.
Recent figures from the DMA (Direct Marketing Association) indicate that email marketing is now overtaking direct mail in terms of volume.
Regardless of the size of your business, you should consider using email marketing to begin reaching more prospects, attracting more business, and improving customer retention.
Here are a few of the top reasons your business should be using email marketing:
- The Personal Touch: Email messages can be personalized to include the recipient's name. When someone gets an email addressed directly to them, they are much more likely to open it.
- The Fast Track: Direct mail campaigns can be very time consuming and quite complicated. Typically, a direct mail campaign can take weeks or months to execute. Then there is the added waiting for delivery via postal mail.
- The Results: Email marketing campaigns are easily tracked. When you can see exactly how many email messages were opened and how many email messages were clicked on, you are able to quickly gather test results and make changes to improve your response rate.
- The Bottom Line: Postage makes up a significant portion of the overall cost of Direct mail. Then there is the added cost of printing the mailers and/or inserts. With email marketing, you don't have postage costs and you don't have the added paper and printing costs. The end result is that an email marketing campaign can be launched for pennies on the dollar as compared to a direct mail campaign.
- The Value Of Relationships: Email marketing is a great way to stay in touch with existing customers. This enables you to build stronger relationships and increase up-sell opportunities.
In today's economic and business climate, it is important for businesses to be able to adapt quickly. The ability to quickly plan and execute email marketing campaigns allows businesses to track and improve ROI quickly and efficiently.

Also you need to have your leads perceive you as a trustworthy person, gaining a persons trust is relatively easy if you allow them into the content of your product and how it will help them become successful online. So emphasizing on the importance of being transparent to your leads is a key factor in escalating your sales substantially.

Great points, Mike. Email marketing is a great and cheaper alternative to direct mail marketing. Just the tracking abilities alone are a tremendous benefit. Not to mention the ability to more easily target various types of customers.
Chris’ point about gaining trust is essential as well. Showing how your product will help them will make you stand out.
Thank you for all your content.
Thank you Mike for all your valuable posts, and also trainings and webinars! I’m glad I joined with you and our team , I ‘m having fun doing e-mail marketing with our tools!
Aloha!
Great points Mike. What’s the point of attracting leads. getting them to opt in and the not staying in touch with them.
Personally I find it best to have regular contact with leads but keep it short and always offer value.

Hi Mike,
Im wondering…..and would love your thoughts, ill understand if this comment never appears on your post.
With so many people getting into the ‘internet marketing’ game (MLM / Affiliate or Direct sales) pretty soon they are arriving at landing pages of every description. Opt in hell
I have lost count of the number of lists I have joined over time. One day I just took stock, looked at the 27,812 unopened emails in just one account and thought “I have had enough”
Now I have started again, and currently have around 4 or 5 subscriptions from leaders in the industry I am interested in. Getting back on topic…..and the BIG question of the moment:-
Is the dreaded opt in box dead?
With Facebook becoming so dominant ( i could bang on for 20 minutes here), and the arrival of facebook connect could I be forgiven for asking the question?
Maybe we could talk about it? I would love your response
regards
Mark
P.S I have linked my facebook page rather than my usual website, can you see why? 🙂
Well I don’t believe email will ever be dead, but it has become harder and harder to get peoples attention through email. I would say doing a great combo is the key. Connect with someone on facebook and they will be more likely to open your emails.
So take the hybrid method. Don’t count out email marketing because you never know when Facebook rules change and could put your business under quickly just like google did. But if you are doing facebook correctly you should never have that problem…
Make it a great day!

Thanks for the informative and smart post. But please, please take that awful Apple style reflection away from your otherwise-so-nice Let’s Connect advert. It’s hideous and completely unnecessary.
Didn’t know I had an Apple style reflection on that. haha
Anyone else see that?
Mike
Email marketing is fine as long as your email doesn’t look spamy. It needs to have a personal touch and very convincing that will attract more of their attention even in your subject title. Avoid using spamy words that will automatically categorize your email as spam.
Superb blog post, I have book marked this internet site so ideally I’ll see much more on this subject in the foreseeable future!
